Dr. Thierry Pauyo
Dr. Thierry Pauyo is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in hip arthroscopy and adult and pediatric ACL reconstruction in Montreal, Quebec. Currently, he is the Head Physician and Head Orthopedic Surgeon of the Montreal Canadiens and the President of the Medical Council of Soccer Quebec. He is also an Assistant Professor at McGill University and is cross-appointed at the McGill University Health Center, The Shriners Hospital for Children and Montreal Children’s Hospital. Dr. Pauyo leads a lab pursuing research on various research foci including: stem cell application in osteochondral lesions, athletic overuse injuries and athletic hip impingement/instability.
Dr. Pauyo has directly worked with the highest sport organizations and their athletes including the Premier League, MLS, NFL, NCAA, U Sports, AHL, OHL, QMJHL and Gymnastics Canada and les Grand Ballets. He also worked with Cirque du Soleil and consulted for organizations like FIFA and the RCMP.
Dr. Pauyo completed his medical studies at Harvard Medical School and his orthopedic residency at McGill University. Then, he completed his first Fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Centre in Sports Medicine. This was shortly followed by a Fellowship in Pediatric Orthopedics at Boston Children’s Hospital.
He was awarded the Harvard Medical Dean’s Community Service Award and the Massachusetts Medical Society Scholar Award for his commitment to improve orthopedic surgical care and access in Haiti. Finally, he was awarded the Herodicus Travelling Fellowship Award from AOSSM.
